About

Who writes The Paycheck Pilot — an hourly worker paid biweekly, writing from lived experience.

Hi, I’m Robert.

I get paid every two weeks, by the hour. For years my money worked like this: paycheck lands, bills get paid in whatever order they yell loudest, and by the second week I’m doing mental math in the grocery line hoping the card clears.

What changed things wasn’t a raise or a finance degree. It was building a system — a boring, repeatable system where every bill has an assigned paycheck, rent gets split in half across both checks, and bill money sits in its own account where I can’t accidentally spend it. Nothing fancy. It just works, month after month.

The Paycheck Pilot is where I write down everything I learned doing that: budgeting on biweekly pay, splitting bills between checks, surviving months when the hours dip, and putting third paychecks to work instead of watching them evaporate.

What this site is — and isn’t

  • It is practical, plain-spoken guides for people paid hourly, weekly, or biweekly. Every method here is one I’ve actually used.
  • It isn’t financial advice. I’m not a financial advisor, and nothing here is personalized advice about investing, taxes, insurance, or legal matters. It’s education from one worker to another. For big decisions, talk to a licensed professional.

Why trust a guy, not a bank?

Banks and big finance sites write about “average households” with steady salaries. That’s not us. I write for the actual life: overtime one week, short hours the next, rent due on the 1st whether the check cooperated or not. If a method doesn’t survive contact with a real hourly schedule, it doesn’t make it onto this site.
